Motorcycle helmets were created in order to protect the head from trauma in case of an accident. In the past, many people didn't like to wear helmets because they weren't stylish or modern looking. Things have changed a little over the past, as now many people like to wear helmets thanks to the new sleek designs and eye-popping technology. A motorcycle is not complete without a helmet.
Motorcycle helmets come in different styles and shapes such as; bell, full face, flip-up and Scorpion helmet. The flip-up helmet was designed in order to communicate with other riders without having to lift the entire helmet at once. With a push of a button, the thin plastic shield can be raised to show the face. These are useful since most of the time; riders greet each other (it is sort of a tradition).
The full-face helmet usually is made of aluminum, although many other materials have been used to construct this contraption. These type of helmets usually cost more because of the futuristic 'bells and whistles' that goes along with the design. They have an oval shape which is made to fit the face perfectly. With brow vent face ventilation, the helmet can be worn for long periods of time without feeling uncomfortable or annoyed. The face shield allows for UV ray protection and better vision, which is important when driving. Some other problems that most riders experience is the fogging that occurs because of the breathing while driving. With a full-face helmet, removable breath-guards are added to prevent fogging.
For those that don't like their vision to become blocked by a plastic face shield, they should invest in the open-face helmet. This helmet allows the face region to remain open with no plastic shield to cover it. They are also called 3/4 helmets because depending on the helmet, some cover more parts of the face than others. Though they are not as expensive as the full-face helmets (because of the lack of protection), they do offer some other features that are worth looking at. The helmet is light-weight which is easier on the neck and can be worn for longer hours. They usually come with cheek pads which are removable.
Motorcycle helmets come in all different shapes and sizes and they don't have to lack in design or features. As mentioned, there are a plethora of styles and choices you can choose from to fit your own personal taste and dislikes. Most of the helmets are stylish and can be made to fit your own personality.
